Catherine Toth-Lacey

Catherine Toth-Lacey lives with her partner Geoffrey and their two beautiful poodles Tzar and Ziggy, in Paddington, Sydney, Australia. Together with her business partner, she runs their business MoneyMidas™ assisting and developing clients to empower themselves financially. With a deep love for all animals, this earth and a passion for poodles she aims to share this love through her books.

Her first introduction to writing won Catherine the prestigious Women in Management Carla Zampatti award whilst doing her MBA at the Australian Graduate School of Business (AGSM), for her essay ‘Does the glass ceiling exist for women in Management?’

In her spare time Catherine manages their share trading portfolio, writes children's books and paints abstract paintings.

When she takes time out she likes to relax by curling up on the lounge and watching a good movie, playing golf in the county or dining out with friends.

With gypsy blood coursing through her veins, Catherine spends as much time as she can travelling with Geoffrey. On their adventures throughout Australia their poodles Tzar and Ziggy travel along with them, and it’s their antics that have been the inspiration behind her writing. She is passionate about educating children to the unique rich fauna of our beautiful country, Australia.

She began writing The Adventures of Tzar the Paddington Poodle in the summer of 2011 whilst holidaying at the tropical village of Mission Beach in Queensland, Australia. With the success of her first book The Adventures of Tzar the Paddington Poodle, Crocodile Encounter she continues to write funny and interesting stories for children’s entertainment about the poodles adventures and their encounter with Australia’s indigenous wildlife.

Holidaying at one of his favourite destinations, Tzar, his brother Ziggy and their very good friend Coco, head out on their usual morning burn up the beach.  Dejected that his fun-filled days are coming to an end, he slips back to the beach house to get his ball in the hopes that it might cheer him up.

As he tears up the beach to catch his ball before it lands, he sees something moving out of the corner of his eye.  Concealed by the thick bushes, the thing shoots out as if jet-propelled and suddenly stops in the middle of the beach.

Instinctively, Tzar puts on the brakes, leaving a three-metre skid mark in the soft sand.  Pulling up just short of the thing, Tzar is completely frozen in terror.  Eyes bulging, he comes face to face with a very, very, very large saltwater crocodile.

This book is suitable for children of all ages and is particularly useful as an early childhood learning resource, as a number of life lessons can be gleaned from the story.  Comprehensive teacher’s notes can be found at the back of book as a lesson plan for school.

Catherine has completed her next book in the series, Adventures of Tzar the Paddington Poodle – Mr Claw.  Keep an eye out for futures stories.
