Caitlin JuryAs a mother of twin girls, Caitlin knows of the wonder a little imagination brings to every day. She is a great believer in the power of positivity in all situations. Her work as a group fitness instructor requires that same positive mindset. Caitlin’s approach to life instils in her story this message. To flip the switch on the nightmare that was hair brushing time, she wrote a story that encourages a positive approach to the task. Her daughters’ response and engagement with the story encouraged Caitlin to share her writing with others. The Magic Brush is Caitlin’s first published work, inspired by her daughters and their dislike of the hairbrush. Caitlin hopes other children and their families will get the same enjoyment from the story and that it might alleviate some of the stress of hair brushing. As a step outside her comfort zone, Caitlin is excited to publish her story and her friend’s illustrations.

Emily believes that sharing stories is a wonderful way for children to connect with other people and gain an understanding and perspective of the world around them. She uses simplified shapes in her illustrations which allows children to more easily redraw and create their own characters in the same style, which fosters their drawing skills and builds confidence in their drawing ability.

The Magic Brush is sure to entice the imagination. Sisters, Bessie and Ruby, seem to lead very different lives. Ruby has the best toys and days filled with unicorns and rainbows. Bessie longs for the same. Bessie and her sister certainly do not see eye to eye when it comes to getting their hair brushed. For Ruby, this time is for magic and wishes. Bessie could do without the whole thing. She can’t understand why her sister enjoys getting those unbearable knots out of her hair. When Bessie finds out the key to enchantment lies in the plain hairbrush, she has a hard time making her wish come true. Why does it work for Ruby and not for her? The Magic Brush is a fun story about the power of positivity and being grateful even through those difficult moments, like getting your hair brushed. |
