Aly’s Books and Mamma Knows West are delighted to announce the return of their free community event Books’ Fest which had its highly successful inaugural year last year. Hosted by Hobsons Bay City Council at Altona Library on Queen Street in Altona, Saturday 20th August, it offers a unique and family friendly way to kick off the 2016 Book Week for children and parents in the inner west of Melbourne. The day will offer an opportunity to meet your favourite local authors and illustrators as well see some new terrific emerging talents on the Melbourne literary scene. The program will include storytellers, musicians, craft and all sorts of performers for the little ones to enjoy!

Managing Director, Aly Walsh said, "I have loved working with Mamma Knows West to bring this great event to the local community. It is such a joy to see the kids being inspired by local authors and illustrators and to see that in their local library.”

Mamma Knows West is the creation of South Kingsville’s Sammi Dobinson and Mandy Couzens of Altona– who are two dedicated Melbourne women who love their family and enjoy sharing their love of all things west. Together they have created a great website and a very popular Facebook page with over 17, 400 followers and have firmly established themselves as an invaluable community resource in Melbourne’s west. Their website and brand has been built with love and careful curating in a hope to inspire local Melbourne families to get out and about and enjoy all that the west has to offer.
Sammi Dobinson of Mamma Knows West said, “We are absolutely thrilled to be bringing the Books’ Fest back after a fantastic event last year. Both ourselves and Aly have a passion for books and a love all things literary. This event coincides with the start of Book Week and is a great way for us to celebrate this. We feel that this event gives families a very unique opportunity to actually meet people who live ‘next door’, who are bringing their stories to life and with Aly as a book publisher and author too she can maybe even help bring out a story in you!”
