Orlando CunsoloOrlando is just nine years old and is about to publish his first book. Young Orlando has always dreamed of being a published author. Although he has dyslexia, he hasn’t let that stand in the way. One of Orlando’s aspirations is to continue writing and publishing stories. J. K. Rowling, Roald Dahl and Ben Wood are but a few of his favourite authors. Orlando says their writing style and success inspire him. Through publishing his own stories, he hopes to show other children, by his very own example, that anything is possible with a little hard work. Orlando says he has his mum to thank for helping him to make this happen. The Blobby Kingdom is Orlando’s first book. He had been conceptualising this colourful story in his mind for a while before finally putting it down on paper. It is a tale about an all-yellow blob called Bloom. Bloom discovers she’s not the only blob in the dreary rainforest and sets out to create a blobby kingdom. We certainly look forward to many more entertaining stories from Orlando. | ||

Bloom is an all-yellow blob created by a paint rainstorm that brings colour to the dreary rainforest. Upon first inspection, Bloom seems to be the only blob of colour in this rather dull place. But it doesn’t take long for her to spy a dash of colour in the distance. So, Bloom sets out to find more blobs! And she doesn’t just find one blob! Bloom finds many. There are the pastel blue blobs (Bukas, Lukas and Luke), a bright, bubbly red blob called Bobby, and so many more. They decide what’s needed is to create their very own blobby kingdom! They set out on making their dream a reality with some determination and a lot of hard work. The Blobby Kingdom has a beautiful message to share with children; you can achieve anything with hard work and focus. The author of this story, Orlando, was nine years old when he wrote and published this, his first book. And though he has dyslexia, he has produced a gem of a story and would make a great addition to any library. Orlando hopes this story inspires others to work towards their dreams, no matter their limitations. |
